Awesome Surf Day

It was a day of fun in the sun at Siesta Key beach. There may not have been a big surf but that didn’t matter to the over 70 kids and 200 volunteers that made it out for the 3rd annual surf day! A lot of these children, ages 3 to 17, had never ridden on a surfboard before but with pure determination and the instruction of skilled surfers, they were up before you knew it. What an awesome experience! The beach was full of smiles from everyone! The volunteers enjoyed it as much as the children! Absolutely, love these kids and their families! There were cheers from everyone, so much support from parents, grandparents, and siblings…And of course, our awesome community! Sarasota is such a wonderful place, where everyone comes together to support each other! So many of our area youth came out to help teach surfing skills. What a great group of people! Best event of the year! It takes a lot of behind the scenes efforts, and many volunteers to provide such an enjoyable experience…Thanks to everyone who helped to make this an unforgettable day and to the sponsors: The Surfin Plummers, Outback Steakhouse, The Compound, and CARE: Center for Autism Resources and Education – a not-for-profit organization. Their mission is to provide support, education, training, resources to parents, professionals and caregivers for those whose lives are touched by Autism.
